This site is where the Incheon Landing took place on September 15, 1950. By mid-September 1950, the North Korean Army had captured most of South Korea. However, the success of the Incheon Landing resulted in a decisive victory and strategic reversal in favor of the United Nations Command.
The operation involved some 75,000 soldiers and 261 naval vessels, and it led to the recapture of the South Korean capital of Seoul two weeks later.
