American Indians have participated in every single war since the Revolutionary War. Almost 26,000 served in the Korean War. More than 5,000 died. 650 are still unaccounted for.
Wilmer George Fleury was one of the first Americans to be killed in action during the Korean War; he died on July 30, 1950. Fleury was from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
