Memorial Site

This memorial located in Yeoncheon is dedicated to the soldiers who crossed the 38th parallel on May 28, 1951. Soldiers making this third crossing of the latitude line that roughly demarcates North Korea and South Korea were those of the 1st Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army, 70th Tank Battalion, 191st Counterintelligence Corps, the Greek Expeditionary Force, and 1st Infantry Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment of Thailand.

The inscription reads: The flower of soldiery passed this way 28 May 1951. In commemoration of the gallant U.S., Greek and Thailand soldiers who lost their lives in these operations in defense of liberty.
